Student Support Services

Yesterday I stopped in to see Bradley Mitchell who is an Academic Support Specialist for the Student Support Services (or SSS program). He is on the Beaver Dam MPTC campus twice a week. The program is through TRiO who provides resources and support for first generation, low income and/or students with disabilities. The program is there to help those students establish and accomplish their academic and personal goals. They have so many different resources for those who qualify. (I totally pulled that information off of their website!)

For me I am taking advantage of the Financial Aid Assistance they provide, the Learning Communities which is designed to network with peers, and I am working with some Disability Accommodations. At the Moraine Park Technical College campus I am also working with Wendy Christianson, a learning Specialist and Debbie Falk. There are nine specialists throughout all three campuses…WOW!

Anyway, I stopped in to fill out some paperwork for the program. Last week I worked with Wendy and she helped me with the registration for summer and fall classes. I am going to be a busy student this year but with the help of my current instructors, the supportive students and the TRiO program, I will be just fine! If you want more information about the program go to:

Make it a great one,
Kirsten
